Free Vision Screenings for children 4-5 years old (Pre-K)
We recommend that all children have their eyes checked professionally by age 4. We screen for disorders that can affect a child’s performance in school and proper development of the visual system.
Common disorders include:
- Excessive near or farsightedness
- Binocular function abnormality
- Amblyopia (lazy eye) www.nei.nih.gov/youtube/amblyopia.asp
Left untreated, these problems can cause permanent vision problems and sight loss
A child who learns to ride a bike for the first time does not increase muscle strength but develops coordination between groups of muscles and nerves. Similarly, vision training restores normal neuro-physiological function to the visual system
