Contact us immediately if you experience any of the following:
- Sudden Vision Changes: A "curtain" over your vision, flashing lights, or a sudden increase in floating spots.
- Eye Trauma or Injury: Scratches, foreign objects, or blunt force trauma.
- Chemical Exposure: Any chemical splash into the eye.
- Severe Eye Pain: Especially if accompanied by nausea, headache, or redness.
- Signs of Infection: Significant redness, swelling, sensitivity to light, or discharge.
What to Do in an Emergency
Call Us First
Call our office immediately for guidance.
Do NOT Rub Your Eye
Rubbing or applying pressure can worsen an injury, especially with a foreign object.
Do NOT Remove Objects
Do not remove embedded objects. Leave them for a medical professional to avoid more damage.
Flush for Chemicals
For chemical splashes, immediately flush the eye with clean, lukewarm water for at least 15 minutes.
